Banbury 5

Tuesday 7th June saw the fifth event of eight in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series take place in Banbury with their long running five mile race. On what is a reasonably fast course in rural Oxfordshire the race was won in just under 25 minutes.

Leighton had three people taking part on this occasion, with the Pat Neilan once again setting a new club record in the V65 category. This was much to the frustration of Richard Inchley who also beat John Adam's mark of 40:10 by fifteen seconds and was pleased with completing the course at under 8 minute mile pace, despite his claimed lack of training, although a week at Club La Santa always helps! read more

Whipsnade 10K & Fun Run

This Sunday saw the running of the Whipsnade 10K and Fun Run around the grounds the zoo in South Bedfordshire. The race also doubled as the county championships for this year.

There were four senior members taking part in the 10K and four juniors in the fun run. On the Fun Run front, eight year old Owen Lindars finished 12th in 9:38 with nobody under the age of 9 in front of him and on this occasion took the family honours as sister Jade finished 29th in 10:13. Only just behind Jade were Fiona's children Sadie and Scott Towell who finished together in 40th & 41st out of 189, in a time of 10:35. read more

The Tale of Helen and Her Homies

As the ninth of twelve teams to depart Stony Stratford on Sunday morning, Andy Inchley was taking on the long first leg following the Great Ouse river and then the Grand Union canal on route to Woolstone. Very much on home turf and knowing that there were a number of slower runners not too far in front, Andy ran pretty well to complete the 10.3 miles in 62:41, having overtaken five teams. He then handed over to late substitute Steve Orlando, who had run the route the day before after Charlie's late withdrawl. read more

Round MK Relay

It is the first of the summer relays this weekend around Milton Keynes. Nearly everyone has checked out their respective legs now so all should be ready to go. The organiser is a chap from MKAC called Alec Walliker and he has built a website with details on, which includes all the entries, predictions and start times. You can find it here. Please remember though that all the predicted times are only guesses and you'll need to be there a little bit beforehand.

Four Inchley’s & their Dave……

Four Inchley's and their Dave went to run in Bedford………

Tuesday night saw Amy, Richard and Andy abandon the usual MK training in favour of the third race in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series in Bedford. They managed to drag Tom along for his second run in the series and Dave Adams also made his annual pilgrimage to the 6 mile event.

Organised by Bedford & County AC, the run is based from the athletic stadium but is entirely traffic free as it utilses the park paths around the A421. The conditions for the race were almost perfect, although a gentle westerley wind meant the last couple of miles were into it, but it was far from a howling gale. The course has just two small hills as runners cross the bypass twice over a foot bridge so all in all it should have been a really good race! read more
