The LBAC awards evening on Friday 27th April 2018 saw the Off-Road Series results communicated to 60 plus athletes and friends of The Club. I suspect that some of the 76 runners who took part were unaware that they were even in the mix, given that six of the 25 events that were on offer were parkruns (Rushmere, Tring) or relays (MK, DDR, Greensands and Squeaky Bone) which have always been popular races. The remaining 19 individual races ranged from 5k to 86 miles, graded according to difficulty in terms of length, terrain and altitude gain. read more

    The 35th Leighton 10

    Another successful Leighton 10!

    Sunday 18th September 2016

    After months of planning and organising, Leighton Buzzard Athletic Club held the 35th Leighton 10 road race on Sunday 18th September. As in previous years, the runners were treated with near perfect conditions for a 10 mile race with almost no wind and cool and dry weather

    As well as all the 241 happy, smiley runners and the clapping, cheering marshals LBAC would like to thank in particular Methi, Mama Rosa’s and Waitrose for providing local runner and team prizes, Tesco’s for the post-race bananas, Chevron for the finish cones Elevations for the PA System, Vandyke school for the use of their hall and carpark as Race HQ and Benedicts for the much-needed catering at the end of the race. read more

    Ramblings of a Lonely LBAC Thrower

    Some of you may not know but we are an athletics club and actually do things that don’t involve running. This could to some, mean going to the Black Lion, but I am actually pointing to the track and field that we engage in over the summer.  Below is some light reading in the life of the only official senior male who takes throwing events seriously.

    3rd round of the EAL took us to Sarrrrrrffffffeend.  Road trips have now become legendary in the club, not due to drinking antics that may be seen in rugby clubs but mainly how long before adults ear drums are burst by screaming kids on the coach, who can bag the back seat (I lost again) and the times when Nick Clay has you locked on the coach to see how many events he can persuade you to do before your body breaks. read more

    Leighton Buzzard Athletic Club turns 40

    A few weekend’s ago, Leighton Buzzard Athletic Club held their 40th anniversary birthday celebrations at Leighton Buzzard Rugby Club. A large majority of current members turned up to participate in a mixture of games, reminiscing about past glories and generally just having a great time seeing everybody not dressed in their running kit!     British long jumper JJ Jegede joined in during the afternoon answering questions from the gaggles of excited juniors fresh from soaking their coaches with wet sponges. A magnificent cake in club colours was cut and enjoyed by club members, young and old, from those who have recently joined to those who are part of the LBAC furniture all together in one big celebration. read more
