MK 10K

Tuesday night saw six people from the club head over to the Open University in MK for the final race in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series and the Milton Keynes 10K. This is a flat fast course around the redways that heads up to Willen Lake and back.

Fred Watt and Pete Mackrell were doing there 7th race of the series and a good performance from Pete would earn him a top eight finish overall and a prize to go with it. Fred was standing in third place in the V60 category, but really good run could see him gain second. Overall results were taken on the best five positions of the series. read more

Track Fun Day, Club Championships and Team Challenge

Sunday 15th July at Stantonbury track in MK will be the location for our inaugural team challenge day for the whole club. Additionally we will be holding the ladies 3K and mens 5K championship. Greensand Ridge Relay

Saturday 23rd June saw the 25th running of Greensand Ridge Relay. The race is run over six legs and 34 miles from Waterside Park in Leighton Buzzard to the village of Northill near Sandy. Most of the route is off-road and unmarshalled so you have to know where you are going, otherwise rely on signposts and navigation.

For the first time this year there were forty teams permitted to enter and it was still oversubscribed. We had four teams taking part with a ladies team, two senior men's teams and a bunch of old boys. read more

LFR Open Evening

LFR are hosting an open evening on Tuesday 17th July, with 3 different routes of between 5 and 10 miles, meeting at the Three Locks pub in Stoke Hammond at 7.15pm. They have said afterwards there will be a few social drinks at the pub! Click here for full details.

A Little Bit of History

In clearing out his cupboards before moving house recently, long standing member Dave Crawley came across some old records, one of which was the the Hatch End 5 results from 1982!

In that race LBAC had six people running under 28 minutes, including club vice president Geoff Roe and former club captain, secretary, chairman and now triathlon club member Steve Goodlad. However, the most notable point was that first home for the club was Dave Walsh, whose 24:52 is actually a club record. These days there are not many people in the club who can run one 4:58 mile, let alone 5 back to back! read more
