Watchless 4 – Take Two

Well, the standard of time predictions has improved hugely in the last few months. Twenty-two people ran this month's second version of the Watchless 4. Of those 22, 14 were within a minute of their predicted time, but 11 were within 20 seconds which is very impressive over the distance. The full results were;

 So the results don't really tell the story. Pete walked the last ten yards because he "knew" he'd run too quick. Charlie went the wrong way and yet was two seconds out. Hopefully everyone enjoyed the event, but if someone else would like to take the lead on another variation to our Wednesday nights, please put your idea forward. read more

Social Events 2014

At LBAC, every Wednesday night is a social event. After training, a large number of the club get showered and head off to The Swan in the town centre. It is a Wetherspoons pub so not glamorous but the food and drink are cheap and clearly we are all wonderful company so please remember that all members are welcome to come along for a post run beverage.

Additionally there are a number of regular events held each year so make sure you have them in your diary:

Outstanding at Luton

It was extremely cold on top of Wigmore Hill as the wind whistled across the park that sits next to the airport. Many participants would undoubtedly have been hoping to be on the flights taking travellers off to warmer climes. However, this didn't stop the best turn-out for a cross-country in many years and possibly ever!

Over fifty runners from our club made the short trip down the motorway to one of the flatter venues on the calendar. There were some excellent performances on the day, but as ever LBAC has achieved fantastic success by getting everyone out and giving fantastic support to each other throughout the event. read more

Bedfordshire XC Champs

This year’s combined Beds/Bucks Cross Country Championships were held at Campbell Park in Milton Keynes. There is a myth that Milton Keynes is completely flat, but those who have run at Campbell Park know this is not true. The undulating course became increasingly muddy as the day progressed making this one of the more challenging cross country races. Despite being depleted by various illnesses and injuries more befitting of an episode of Casualty, the club sill had 30 representatives in all. read more
