“Christmas” Handicap

With just the Stag Trophy final positions to be sorted on Wednesday, Easter Monday saw the 35th running of the Christmas handicap, also known as the Langmay Trophy.

With near freezing temperatures urging people to stay indoors, it was a relatively small group of 11 that met Dave Adams in the Football Club car park at 11am, desperate to get under way, just to try and warm up.

The very simple route heads out along Stanbridge Road, over the bypass before curving round to Billington where a right turn takes you up and over the hill and a straight run back in to town. It is around 5.6 miles and is historical rather than significant in any way. read more

Summer Relays

There are two popular relay events in May and June which the club enters several teams for each year. Whilst these are still several months away, teams need to be entered early so if you want to take part you need to let Andy know soon (andy_inchley@hotmail.com).

Each event has vastly differing legs ranging from 4 miles to 10 miles so there is something to suit everyone. The routes are not marked so it is ABSOLUTELY VITAL that you recce them. There will always be other people doing the same leg to recce them with. read more

March Stag Trophy

With one race to go in the prestigious Stag Trophy competition, we are now into a two horse race.

The sixth 4K run of the season saw five new PB's in the cold weather. Stuart Wightman pulled away from Helen Crossland in the closing stages to win in 21.09 as Helen also acheived a huge four minute PB with 21.15. The run of night though was almost certainly from Jordan Clay who smashed through the 14 minute barrier with a thirty second PB in 13.44 to come home third. Charlie Mead is also finishing the season strongly with a new PB too in fifth to earn 21 points. read more

Junior Awards Night & Quiz

On Friday 22nd March, we will be holding our Junior Awards Night and Quiz. This is an opportunity to recognise the achievements of our junior section following their impressive year. It's also a bit of fun with the quiz. Everyone is welcome to attend, feel free to bring along other halves, children, etc.

The venue is Cottesloe School in Wing, from 7pm-11pm (please note it is NOT at the football club this year). It's £5 per team of 6 and each team must include a Junior, but don't worry if you don't have a junior to hand because we can share them out on the night! Nibbles will be provided but bring your own drink. read more
