Tremendous Improvements for Abi & Billy
December’s Stag Trophy race saw a flurry of excellent performances from across the club’s membership.
First home on the night was Abi May, who started first and was never caught. This was not really surprising as she ran more than four minutes quicker than her debut in October! As someone who has never considered herself a runner she is making fantastic progress. Next home was Joe Bidlake-Hull who was making his own debut and has now set a stall out for Dave.
Billy Mead has never really run at his best in the Stag in the past, but a life away from university and a little more training has seen his form soar in recent weeks. His time of 13:34 was a 36 second PB and saw him move from 40th to 18th on the all-time list for the Stag as well as running the fastest time by anyone so far this season.
There were a host of other PB’s as well from Leanne Pospisil, Caroline Mann, Graham Magill, Jenny Rawdon and Suzy Beech as well as further debuts from Pete & Tracey Hawes and Sarah Dobson. Very well done to them all.
What was noticeable was that none of the leaders following November were near the front of the field and as a result there has been a small shift around. Our new leader is Amy Killick, who has run 17:12, 17:13 and 17:13 in her three races. She has 56 points and is one ahead of both Nikki Inchley and Stuart Dimmock. Nikki may be having words with Dave after she ran 1:20 quicker than last month but still only scored 10 points!
With three races gone there are four more left and as long as you have one reasonable score then you are still in with a shout of winning, but even if you can’t win, part of the fun is coming along and affecting all the results. The next race is on 4th January.
