This Sunday saw the running of the Whipsnade 10K and Fun Run around the grounds the zoo in South Bedfordshire. The race also doubled as the county championships for this year.

There were four senior members taking part in the 10K and four juniors in the fun run. On the Fun Run front, eight year old Owen Lindars finished 12^th in 9:38 with nobody under the age of 9 in front of him and on this occasion took the family honours as sister Jade finished 29^th in 10:13. Only just behind Jade were Fiona's children Sadie and Scott Towell who finished together in 40^th & 41^st out of 189, in a time of 10:35.

In the 10K race, first home was club secretary Pete Mackrell who completed the three lap course in 38:26 to finish 15th forty seconds behind our friend Terry Stanley from Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers. Having been focusing on mileage in recent months, Pete was quite pleased with the time as it gives him a focus for the rest of the summer.

First of the three club ladies was Louise Flack who finished in 51:13. Fiona Towell has been suffering with sinus issues over the last few weeks and unfortunately struggled with it today. As a result she had to stop temporarily after two laps. However, she restarted with training partner Janet Dashwood (who came down to the club on Wednesday) and in Janet's first ever race, helped her to complete the course in 38:14. the final club member to finish was Helen Crossland, who closed out the 10K in 72:16.
