So Tom has announced the teams for Greensand Ridge relay. There are four teams taking part in the cross Bedfordshire race on the 25th June. The route goes from the Waterside Park in Leighton Buzzard to the lovely village of Northill near Sandy and more specifically the Crown Inn.

Following the race all the competitors gather for a pint and a barbeque in the pub where the presentations are also done. On that basis, the more people who stick with the race to the finish the better the atmosphere at the end.

Clearly everyone needs to work out their logistics for the day but it is basically an afternoon out if you stick with the whole lot, with the aim being for everyone to finish at about 5pm with the first team going off around 12pm, depending on your handicap time.

There are four trophies to comepete for and as a club we are holders of two at the moment. The fastest ladies team and the fastest mixed team were both won by LBAC last year. We didn't have quite enough ladies to challenge for both competitions this year, but we do have a strong ladies and men's team. There is also one trophy that anyone can win as it is the one for the first team across the line and therefore amounts to an age-related award, as that is what the start times are based on.

It is crucial however, that you know the route you are running as it is easy to get lost going across the countryside, so please find the time to go out and recce your run before the day. Clearly there are three other people doing the same leg so you can get together if you would like company. There are a couple of slight deviations of the actual Greensand Ridge (most notably on leg 4) so make sure you follow the instructions and not just the footpath!!

• Buzzard Nuts – Starting at 12:42 – Steve Harrison, Craig Nelson, Tom May, Dan Webb, Fred Watt & Mike Bryant
• Buzzard Bolts – Starting at 12:50 – Simon Coombes, Billy Mead, Andy Inchley, Nick Clay, Tom Inchley & Chris Norman
