New Training Sessions
With the dark winter months fast approaching, various people are looking for additional training sessions that are a little different from the evening runs around the roads of Leighton & Linslade. There is no change to Wednesday nights, but these should give a couple more options that may also fit into your diary and get you away from the street lamp blues of running up and down Bideford Green!
Saturday Hill Training – Tom May is going to lead a session in Stockgrove Park most weeks (It won't happen on race days) that will leave from the main car park at 8.30am. It will consist of a warm-up, a series of efforts up and down various hills in the park and a cool down. This is ideal strength training for all running, but in particular the cross-country season. Just turn up if you are interested.
Sunday Long(ish) Runs – We have decided to re-instigate the traditional Sunday run as an optional group session for those wishing to have some company on a Sunday morning. Every week will be a different start point and the route and start time will be dictated by the "host". Some people like to run really early, some prefer a small lie-in, but all the start times will be between 8 and 10am. The idea being that we get out into the countryside and see some different parts of the area.
The plan therefore is that individuals will plan a starting point, route (and therefore distance) and start time. It will be published on the website and people can just turn up. The routes should all be between 8 and 13 miles, with an option to extend for anyone who wants or needs to go further, but you should be able to manage the distance fairly comfortably.
