Langmay Trophy 2021
Langmay Trophy – 2021
A beautiful Easter Sunday and near perfect running conditions welcomed our competitors to the 2021 Langmay Trophy. It’s a welcome return to some competitive action and the perfect introduction to the new route for this LBAC staple event. A good turn out with a mixture of new members and seasoned runners made for some good racing with some excellent performances across the field.
In terms of pure timing Jordan Clay came across the line first in a very impressive 25.13. Second home was Simon Coombes in 27.45 with Will Eastman third home in 30.14 just pipping Stuart Read at the finish. Fastest lady was Ruth Eastman in 34.45 followed by Amy Farnfield in 35.36, and Amy Inchley in 36.52.
As good as all those times were, we all know that this trophy is a personal battle. This is a blind handicap with the trophy going to the person who can beat their predicted time by the largest margin. Our new ‘Andycap’ master, Andy Inchley had a challenging time predicting pace after a year of very little competition but did a sterling job all the same.
So, in third place came Paul Andrew beating his predicted time by 1 minute and 41 seconds. In second place, a very evenly paced run from Andrea Meek saw her beat her prediction by 2 minutes and 23 seconds. However, the winner who absolutely smashed her handicap by over 3 and half minutes is Sadie Towell. Congratulations Sadie, hopefully you can look forward to collecting your trophy at future awards dinner all being well.
A special mention must go to our youngest competitor Ollie Coombes who did fantastically well to make it all the way around in 49.59 on what is a very up and down course.
A massive thank you to everyone that helped to make this event happen. All the marshals, time-keepers, those snapping photos and anyone that came along to support. We could not do the event without you. Its so good to be back!!
