December Stag Trophy
The December Stag Trophy race was run on a cold but still night in Leighton Buzzard. The numbers were a little low, presumably put off by the cold weather, but there was some excellent runs by the ones who were there.
Having started running just a few of months ago, Kelly Paine's efforts are really starting to show through now. She has improved so much over the last month that when she had a lap to go, four other runners still had two to go. This run meant that she cruised round the final lap to win comfortably and take the 25 points.
Kelly's nearest two challengers were the two Chris's who both also smashed their PB's. Chris Williams broke his best time by two minutes thanks to a really good year of training that has seen him improve hugely. Chris Large followed up last month's win with a solid 23 points in third as he ran a minute quicker. Pete Mackrell and Warren Rose were just a couple of seconds outside their PB's as they took fourth and fifth.
After three races Rod Lopez still holds the lead on 63 points, but now there are five others within six points of him. Pete Mackrell on 61 and Amy Inchley on 59 are the nearest, while Chris Large has 48 points from just two runs.
The next Stag race is on Wednesday 4th January.
