Steve nearly settles it!
Last Wednesday saw the remarkable running of the fifth Stag Trophy race of the season as ten out of the nineteen club members who ran set new personal best times.
On the night it was Jordan Clay, fresh from his run at the Nationals at Alton Towers, who smashed his previous best by over forty seconds to come home first. The 25 points gained put him up to fourth place in the standings and he now has a good chance of a podium finish. Behind Jordan was Amy Inchley with another big PB. She is now regretting not doing any races early in the year as her two performances in February have yielded 49 points!
In addition to Jordan and Amy, PB's were gained by Jane Sauer, Jill Richardson, Lynn Boddy, Ian Grimshaw, Dan Webb, Jake Irvine and Brian Foulger. Almost all of which have been doing regular cross-countries for the last few months and seem to be reeping the benefits of their training and racing combinations. Well done to all.
However, with two races to go in the Stag season, Steve Orlando has a pretty commanding lead over everyone. Having run all five races this year and having gained a PB in each one, he is now up to 112 points overall, which has been a winning total on many occasions in the past. As it stands, only Ian Grimshaw and Dan Webb have the possibility of totalling more than 112 and both require near maximum points in the last two races to do it. Having said that, if Daniel and Ian do not have fantastic last races then there are eleven people who could still get into the top three so keep pushing for every point.
The next race is on Wednesday 16th March, with the final one on the 6th April. The full updated results are on the Stag Trophy pages, as are the various PB's lists and historical info.
