Last Wednesday saw the annual running of the Beds county schools cross-country at Ampthill Park. LBAC had a number of runners representing South Beds in the race which also includes the best runners from Luton, Mid Beds & North Beds too.

In the U12 boys race, Jamie Stancombe put in a storming performance to finish in 7^th place as the first South Beds runner. Patrick Clay also finished strongly in 21^st and was fourth home for the district. In the U14 girls Alison Gosbee and Beth Tippite finished just a few seconds apart in 32^nd and 33^rd respectively.

The result of the day placings wise came from Jordan Clay, whose 5^th position in the U14 boys and first South Beds runner will give him qualifiaction for the National Schools event in March. Joe McGarry also had a solid run to finish 10^th and may yet make the county team too. Charlie Mead in 22^nd, Lloyd Millikin in 28^th and Jake Irvine in 30^th also had solid runs in the cause of South Beds.

In the U16 boys Bryan Foulger had a cracking run to finish 9^th, a year young in the race, just one place behind Billy Mead as the came home as the second and third scorers for South Beds. Clearly, both lads have a decent chance of making the county team for the National Schools event.
